If something characterizes these times, it is the integration of platforms when communicating and, with it, automation. Today more than ever, applications and websites are available to the user to facilitate communication between users and also to streamline processes.

In this sense, at SitioSimple we launched Webhooks, so you can integrate everything that happens on your website with an external application.

What is a Webhook?

The term Webhook is relatively recent and comes from “hooking”, a computer concept that talks about increasing the behavior of a computer system.

Translated as “web hooks”, they are basically an automatic communication system between apps. What they do is make it easier for web applications and websites to exchange data.

It’s what we have developed at SitioSimple so that you can maximize the full potential of your Web page and increase the expected results.

What do SitioSimple Webhooks allow?

The new webhooks functionality will help you send all the information about what happens on your SimpleSite to other platforms.

This means that if, for example, a new purchase is made on your site, a new customer enters or someone completes a contact form, you will be able to see it reflected in different target applications such as Google Spreadsheet, Zapier, CRM or any of your own systems.

Zapier, for example, already integrates with dozens of platforms, so you can connect to any of them from SitioSimple. That is, you can automatically integrate a spreadsheet in Google Drive, your email marketing contact list, your accounting system, your logistics and shipping system, or any other need you have, in a really very simple way and with results. incredible.

How to implement Webhooks in SitioSimple

Implementing them is very simple, here we show you in simple steps.

1. Login with your username and password to your SitioSimple and go to the tab “Site”

2. Once there, select “Settings” on the top bar and then “Webhooks” on the left side> Create Webhook.

Step 2

3. Next, you must complete the data and then you must select at which points you want the information to be synchronized.

Step 3

  • Name → It is the name of the webhooks (we can create several).
  • Endpoint → It is the url where the Request (http request) with the data will be made. (Must be https)
  • Token → This field is an option and allows to generate a secret code to add security to the call (it is optional).
  • Status → Allows you to temporarily enable or disable the webhook.

4. Once the desired items have been selected, you must click on “Save changes” and that’s it! You already have your webhook configured.

Step 4
How to test a Webhook?

Once configured, it is very important to be sure that the webhook we install works. In order to test it, we have the possibility of simulating a trigger, just as it would happen if a user performed a certain action on our site.

For this, once a valid endpoint has been entered, we must click on “see example”. This will take us to the next window.

Here, we can see an example of the data that will be sent to the destination url, that is, the endpoint. In addition, it allows us to test it by clicking on “Send test to Endpoint”.

Test step

Test a webhook on a server

To test the delivery of the webhook, we can use a tool that allows us to see the data in real time. In this case, we will use the example of Requestbin.com, but there are also other options that would work for the same case.

Server test

Once we enter the site, we must remember to uncheck the «private» option and click on Create Request Bin, that will take us to the following screen:

Test 3

Ready! With these steps We already have an endpoint to perform our tests. Now, we just have to copy the url that it generates, pressing the «copy» button and paste it in the “Endpoint” field of SitioSimple. Once this is done, we send a test. We paste that address in the “ss endpoint” field and send a test.

Test 4

If we have done everything correctly, we will receive an example of the information that SitioSimple sends us in real time.
